Hunger Games...I may have geeked out a little bit.

So!  My mission today was to get as many Hunger Games polishes as I could.  Two Sally's and one Chatters later, I have eight new beauties to call my own :-D

I caught on late to the Hunger Games series, but am now about ten pages away from finishing the second book.  I'm not going to lie, I was up until 3:30 am last night reading.  I also know that these polishes are EVERYWHERE in the nail blog world right now, but I couldn't resist!

So, after a good nights rest, and a guilt-inducing shopping trip, I present:

China Glaze Colors from the Capitol!

Left-to-right:
Riveting
Smoke and Ashes
Agro
Harvest Moon

These are all two coats with one coat of Seche Vite over top.  Agro and Smoke and Ashes didn't even need a second coat, I just did it for good measure.

All with one coat of Luxe and Lush.

Left-to-right:
Stone Cold (omg a matte!)
Fast Track
Electrify
Luxe and Lush

Two coats of Stone Cold, two coats of Luxe and Lush.  I needed three coats of Fast Track and three coats of Electrify (Electrify is pretty with less coats as well, but I wanted to see the glitter-bomb-ness of it).

Annnnnnd lastly one coat of Luxe and Lush over Stone Cold, Fast Track, and Electrify (overkill much?)

So...the verdict.

I love these!  I found Fast Track a little runny, but meh, I can deal with that.  My favorites are probably Riveting (so bright!) and Stone Cold, so now the challenge will be to come up with something featuring both.

What colors did you pick up?  Have you read the series?  Are you MEGA excited to see the movie?

I'm Alive!

Greetings!

I've been busy busy and frankly haven't been super inspired to make blog posts.  I'm still changing my nails every other day or so though, don't worry :D

I recently had a number of catastrophic breaks on my right hand that resulted in sticking a few fake nails on.  I just couldn't bring myself to cut all of my nails off.  When I finally removed them, the damage they did to my natural nails made me freak out so much that I just bit the bullet and cut them all down.  Now I'm working on rebuilding some healthier (albeit much shorter than I'd like) nails.

I did these last night, so excuse the slight bit of tip wear from today.

I got this idea from this tutorial from Chloe's Nails.  I did alternating nails a base coat of either OPI Warm & Fozzie (the gold) and OPI Your Royal Shine-ness, taped a nail off, and did a V of Sally Hansen Black Out.  There are multiple layers of Seche Vite on these nails (see the lovely bubbling I got on my ring finger?)

Please excuse my less than stellar cuticles, this was a very impromptu decision to take some pictures and make a little blog post to show that I'm still alive.

Yayyy taping!

Totally ready for Spring...Pastel Watercolor Nails

Greetings fellow nail enthusiasts!  I've had just about enough winter for one year, so I thought I'd start doing some Spring-themed nail art.

I first saw these Watercolor nails on Chalkboard Nails and was totally inspired to try them myself.  Mine aren't as colorful as the lovely Sarah's, but I like them anyways.

I'm not going to get into the how-to's for this, because frankly, I'm AWFUL at explaining things.  This is a good tutorial.

I used:
Wet N Wild French White Creme
OPI Pink Friday
Sally Hansen Mint Sorbet
China Glaze Secret Peri-Wink-le

I hope you like my pastelly goodness!

Marry a Sunset Sailor (+ my first flakie!)

Hi!

I've got 2 recent manis for ya'll today!

This is China Glaze Marry a Millionaire over China Glaze Sunset Sail.  Sunset sail is a super nice nude, with a lot of shimmer that my camera just didn't want to pick up.

This tape mani is super easy; I just cut random V-shaped bits out of a piece of tape, stuck it on my nail, did 2 thick, quick coats of the glitter, peeled off the tape and voila!

I finally bought my first flakie topcoat the other day.  This is Essie Shine of the Times over (my favorite) blue Sally Hansen Blue It.

I went skiing today and thought these nails were pretty appropriate :-)

Thanks for all the kind comments on my Cotton Candy nails from the super awesome Reddit ladies!

Cotton Candy...Yum!

Must stay motivated to continue posting, even though no one reads...........

Okay!  I did these nails the other day.  My first foray into the world of scotch tape mani's.  It was wayyy easier than I thought it would be.  I just cut some super thin tape strips, stuck them on my nails (one at a time) and painted over them using the glitter polish.  Then, quickly peel back the tape to reveal purty stripes!  I used Satin Finish giftwrap tape.

Base is OPI Pink Friday, stripes are OPI Excuse Moi!, followed with a Seche Vite topcoat.

(click to make big and prettier)
These are hereby known as my Cotton Candy nails.  The light pink looks like fluffy cotton candy, and the stripes look like slightly damp cotton candy (from your mouth...you know, eating it).

Hope you like!

-30 outside? Warm and Fozzie inside :)

It's collllllld outside.  I'm not usually one to follow appropriate seasonal colors when it comes to nail polish.  If it like it; I'll wear it.  Neons in January?  You bet!  But today, in celebration of it feeling like -30C outside (-22F for you Americans) I thought I'd finally try out my bottle of OPI Warm and Fozzie from the Muppets collection.

Ain't it purty!  So many different little shimmer flakie colors.  Looking at my nails instantly makes me feel warmer.
I also bravely ventured outdoors to get some direct sunlight pictures.  I get ZERO direct sunlight in my place, and I usually only do my nails at night, so sunlight pictures are not something I'm used to taking.  I'm going to try to do more though, cause this looks marvelous!

Off to drink a pot of coffee.  Happy Tuesday!

Whimsical, oooo, purty!

Oh, hi :-D

So...I spotted this little gem a few weeks back, but didn't bother to pick it up at the time.  Now I learn that this is a hard to find polish at the moment, so of course, I kick myself for not buying it earlier.  2 days ago while shopping at Pharmasave, I notice all classic Revlons are one sale ($2.99 zomg!), and, lo and behold, there she is!
Revlon's Whimsical.  It's super super sheer, I would definitely layer it over something next time.  This is 4 coats (with a coat of SV to top it) and you can still see my nail line.  I wanted to see all the pretty layers this polish creates on its own though.

I have a feeling this won't stay on my fingers long.  The formula kind of reminds me of my least favorite nail polish I've ever purchased, Wet N Wild Megalast in 2% Milk (it will NOT set for me...grr) so we'll see what happens.

Well, that's it for tonight.  I don't go back to work until Thursday so hopefully I'll have some time to play with my nails some more!

What do you think of Whimsical?  Have you been able to find it?

My first Blog Post!

Greetings!  It appears you have stumbled upon my fancy new nail blog.  I'm just starting out in the world of nails, and wanted a place to share my experiences (and epic failures) with the nail blog community.

For my first post, I'd like to show you my current NOTD.

This is China Glaze's In The Lime Light (a super bright neon that dries matte) topped with OPI's Fresh Frog of Bel Air.  I slathered a sexy coat of Seche Vite on top.

I forgot that In the Lime Light was a neon and should really be layered so this is five coats.  But it dries super quick, so I was ok with it.

I bought In the Lime Light because I'm a huuuuuuge Rush fan, and one of my favorite songs of theirs is Limelight.

Thanks for reading!
